Blue Umpires Rookie Academy 2019
Classes will be held at two locations this year:
Matt Guilianos Play Like A Pro: Happague (RULES)
Diamond Baseball Academy: 194 Morris Ave, Unit 48, Holtsville NY, 11742 (MECHANICS)
Our Spring rookie academy will consist of 8 classroom sessions, 4 indoor weeknight/weekend mechanics sessions and three on field scrimmages. The tentative dates for the classes are: available upon registration. In order to be be eligible to work, each candidate must attend all sessions, pass the certification exam and field test. The cost of the class is $350, $100 due upon registering and the balance to be paid off. Upon graduating each student will be eligible to work games for any of the league we have contracts with. Some of those leagues include Suffolk County P.A.L., Long Island Boys of Summer, Long Island Mens Midweek Baseball, Long Island Mens Amateur Baseball League, Nassau County Youth Baseball League, as well as various Little Leagues and Tournaments across Nassau and Suffolk County. The goal of the spring class is to get umpires on the field for the month of July.

- NFHS Rule Book
- Little League Rule Book
- AFU Group 2 Man Manual and Casebook
Classroom Sessions:
- There will be 8 sessions with in-depth analysis of Major League, High School, and Little League rules with points of emphasis on umpire mechanics and responsibilities.
Plate Training:
- Consists of indoor drills to simulate live pitching with emphasis on stance, head height, timing, and presence. Upon mastery of the drills each student will see live pitching.
Field Training:
- Each candidate will be required to attend three scrimmages, weather permitting, of various levels and get evaluated by our training staff.
